WPForms <= 2.0.2.1 – Reflektiertes Cross-Site-Scripting über 'query_var'-Smart-Tag im iframe-srcdoc-Attribut
Das WordPress-Plugin „WPForms – AI Form Builder for WordPress“ ist in allen Versionen bis einschließlich 2.0.2.1 für reflektiertes Cross-Site-Scripting (XSS) über vom Angreifer gewählte Parameter anfällig, die durch das Smart Tag {query_var} referenziert werden. Ursache sind unzureichende Eingabebereinigung und Ausgabemaskierung. Nicht authentifizierte Angreifer können beliebigen Schadcode einschleusen, der ausgeführt wird, sobald ein Benutzer eine manipulierte Aktion ausführt (z. B. auf einen bösartigen Link klickt). Ein Angriff setzt voraus, dass ein Administrator zuvor ein Formular gespeichert hat, dessen Beschreibung ein {query_var}-Smart-Tag innerhalb eines srcdoc-Attributs eines iframe einbettet und die Option „Show Description“ auf einer öffentlich zugänglichen Seite aktiviert ist.
